University Hall and Van Wickle Gates - Brown University - Providence, Rhode Island
Duing the Revolutionary War, the hall was used as barracks,hospital, and horse stable for American and French troops. It was designated a National Shrine in 1963. The Van Wickle Gates are opened only twice each academic year; in September during convcation ceremonies, and in June at the commencement procession.
